Version 2.0 • Effective 14 July 2026 • rinosbike.com/pages/gpsr

What this document covers:

This is our regulatory information page. It covers product safety, what we do in the event of a safety recall, your right to return old electronic components for recycling, and our product liability obligations. This is not the warranty or returns document — see rinosbike.com/pages/warranty-policy for that.

§ 1 Product safety — who is responsible

Rinos Bikes GmbH is the responsible entity for all Rinos products under EU Regulation 2023/988 on General Product Safety (GPSR), in force from 13 December 2024.

Company Rinos Bikes GmbH

Company register Frankfurt (Oder) HRB 18164

Every Rinos bicycle is assigned a unique serial number stamped on the frame. This links the bike to your order in our system, which allows us to identify and contact you in the event of a safety issue.

§ 2 Safety recalls

If we identify a safety-critical defect in a product, or if a regulatory authority orders a recall, we will:

  • Contact you by email at the address you provided when ordering, as quickly as possible after the issue is identified

  • Tell you clearly what to do — including whether to stop riding the bike immediately

  • Arrange collection, repair, or replacement of affected bikes at our cost

  • Notify the relevant market surveillance authority and publish information at rinosbike.com/pages/gpsr

By buying a Rinos bike, you agree to cooperate with any safety recall: respond to our communications promptly, stop using the bike if we tell you to, and make it available for inspection or collection when requested. Keep your email address up to date — we use the address from your original order for all safety communications.

§ 3 Product liability

Under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz / ProdHaftG), Rinos is fully liable for personal injury or property damage caused by a defective product. This liability is unlimited and cannot be excluded by any contract. Nothing in our Terms, Warranty Policy, or any other Rinos document limits this liability.

A new Product Liability Directive (EU 2024/2853) is being implemented into German law, scheduled to take effect on 9 December 2026. The previous €85 million cap on personal injury claims and the €500 property damage deductible are both being removed under this reform. Rinos will comply with the updated law upon its entry into force.

For safety concerns or suspected product defects that may be dangerous, contact: info@rinosbike.eu

§ 4 Electronic components — take-back and recycling

Some Rinos bikes are fitted with electronic shifting systems (such as Shimano Di2) containing electronic components and rechargeable lithium batteries. Under the German ElektroG (implementing EU WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU) and the EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542, these must not be disposed of in household waste.

How to return old electronic components

We offer a free take-back service for end-of-life electronic shifting parts from Rinos bikes. This covers: electronic derailleurs, electronic shifters, junction boxes, charging cables, and batteries from electronic shifting systems.

  1. Email info@rinosbike.eu with subject 'Electronic Component Return – [Order Number]' and list the items you want to return.

  2. We will send you a return address and packaging instructions.

  3. Pack the items safely to prevent short circuits in transit.

Important — lithium battery safety:

Batteries must be discharged to around 30% charge before being shipped.

Damaged, swollen, or leaking batteries CANNOT be sent by post and need specialist disposal.

If you have a damaged battery, email us at info@rinosbike.eu before doing anything — we will advise.

This service is for electronic components from Rinos bikes only. It does not cover parts bought separately from other retailers.
